On October 6, 2019, all landline numbers with (02) prefix of Globe Telecom will migrate to from 7-digit to 8-digit format by adding "7" in the prefix. For example, a Globe landline number 730-1234 will become 7730-1234.
This move is in line with the National Telecommunications Commission's (NTC) Memorandum Circular 410-10-2017, which directs all telephone numbers with area code 02 to an 8-digit format. According to the commission, this ensures a sufficient resource pool to cater the rapid growth of landline subscribers in major cities. The initial migration was moved from March 18 to October 6 to give ample time for banks and card companies ample time to prepare.
Globe is exhausting all means to ensure smooth service continuity for all affected customers. From October 6, 2019 to January 5, 2020, customers that will still dial the old 7-digit number will hear a special announcement, saying the format has been changed to 8-digits. Globe will continue reminding its customers on the upcoming migration in October through all available channels, including SMS, email, and social media.
